Language Evolution
Language evolution denotes the process of how the ability to use symbolic language in various forms emerged in our species, Homo sapiens. This differs from historical linguistics which studies the change of different languages over time and how various languages relate to each other.
Looking at the question of language evolution proper, use the article by Bickerton (2005) and the film Babel, first present at least two pieces of empirical evidence used by scholars to establish models of language evolution. Then, present the model you find most convincing. What does the model explain (symbolic capacity, speech, grammar, or another feature) and what evidence is used to support it?
