Description
Do the following two things in a 4 pages (double spaced) paper:
1. Describe and explain the views of one of the following author Kass
2. Critically assess the author’s views. (Point out the strong and weak points of the author’s views. Suggestions for critical assessment: What are the good points of and the problems with the theory? Does the theory give a good or the right answer to specific cases? Why or why not? Are there important things the theory neglects or misses? Does the theory make any incorrect assumptions? What about the theory needs to be changed or improved?) Note #1: It is often easiest to organize your critical assessment by discussing all of the theory’s strong points and then all of the theory’s weak points (or vice versa). The answers to the other questions under “suggestions for critical assessment” can usually be included under strong and weak points of the theory.
Note #2: It is usually easier to write a critical assessment paper if you write about an author you either partially or mostly disagree with. This is because papers that only support an author’s view tend to just repeat what the author said–and thus are rather boring–unless the writer has new reasons or evidence in support of the author’s claims. Note #3: You should spend about half the paper on critical assessment.
