Activity 1: Team Role Play – Communicating

Each team will draw a card that will give a different communication situation. Team members will role play the situation using the communication skills learned during the Task. (scenarios in the Important Documents site)

Activity 2: Finding and Evaluating Resources

With a team locate resources for five different breaking news topics in health sciences (at least 5 resources for each).

Make a matrix for the resources. Use the template in the Important Documents to help organize your information. Refer to the

information you reviewed in the Task to evaluate whether the resources is reliable.
Activity 3: Analyzing a Health Science Article

Work with a partner. Go to the university databases and choose a health science journal article. Read and then review the article. You might want to go to the library to get help from the librarian.

Your review should include:

Title, author, and other components of an APA citation
Brief overview of what the article is about (2 -3 sentences)
When the article was written (you want to find an article from 2014 or later)
Gap identified by the writer in the research
Review of the results and discussion of results – provide a summary of what was found in your own words. (about half a page)
A brief discussion in your own words that analyze whether the article presents the data clearly, the results are only data, not opinion, and the conclusion is clearly stated and based on results. (no more than half a page)
Project Assignment:

Complete your interview of a health science professional.

Be sure to take notes or record with the interviewee’s permission.
