You are to write a personal response. Choose ONE the 2 possible topics below. Support your idea with reference to the text and to your previous knowledge and/or experience. Make sure a quote is chosen from the novel and include the quote into the writing.

Topic #1: What does the text suggest about the desire to escape?
Topic #2: What does the text suggest about personal resourcefulness?
Length: Minimum of 1000 words

Outline (1st page) important points:
-Question chosen (topic)
-Insightful and descriptive thesis statement
-Prose format
-4 sentence summary of the paper
-Quote from the novel related to the thesis that will be inserted into the writing

Steps:
-Read novel (uploaded PDF) while taking notes of topics above
-Chose a topic between the 2
-Come up with a strong and insightful thesis statement for that topic
-Chose a personal response prose format: short story, monologue, journal, diary entry, letter, script, soliloquy, short biography, etc (I believe the first-person perspective is easier and creates stronger argument)
-Embark on the writing taking note that everything can be creative and made up but the plot and content has to be plausible.
-Make sure that the writing is NOT solely critical/analytical as it is meant to be a personal/creative piece
