Inquiry project research paper: The purpose of this assignment is to help each student articulate his/her responses to topics that we encounter in class, to extend student knowledge within the topic area of choice, and to help students learn to be good writers and to present their ideas with integrity and adherence to scholarly standards. Choose a topic to research that you feel strongly about concerning an educational issue, and prepare a paper in response to what you learn. The topic chosen should allow the student the opportunity to reflect on his/her personality and disposition, while making a clear connection to the readings from the course. The final product will be a 6-8 page paper in either MLA, APA, or Chicago style. Papers will be graded according to the enthusiasm of inquiry evident in the paper (20 pts.), the degree of personal insight evident in the finished product (20 pts.), the paper’s clarity of purpose (20 pts.), conformity to research standards (20 pts.), and conventions of grammar and mechanics (20 pts.).
