Develop your paper by first responding to ONE or TWO of Stevens’s points, explaining to what extent you agree with her

Write a summary-response essay that explains to what extent you agree with Dana Stevens and her argument against the wearing of flip-flops as formal wear AND that asserts another annoying behavior that ought to be considered.
Develop your paper by first responding to ONE or TWO of Stevens’s points, explaining to what extent you agree with her. Then, identify an additional behavior that really annoys you and explain why your readers should consider it as well or instead of Stevens’s issue with flip-flops.
Make sure that you do not direct your essay towards the behaviors of a specific person, race, gender, or sexual orientation. Finally, do not write about cell phones or digital technology. In class, we
will consider examples of what may be appropriate to write about.

Your essay should include the following:
• An introduction that summarizes Dana Stevens’s essay and that smoothly and smartly leads into your thesis statement;
• A thesis statement that explains to what extent you agree with Stevens’s piece and that clearly identifies another annoying behavior that should be considered;
• Body paragraphs with strong topic sentences, including one to two paragraphs where you take up a point of Stevens and respond to it;
• TWO direct quotes from Stevens’s writing in the body and/or conclusion of your essay;
• TWO underlined adjective clauses;
• A conclusion that DOES NOT begin with the words, “In conclusion,” and that offers your
readers something more than just a restatement of what you already have written;
• A title that effectively and authentically sets the mood or tone for reading your essay. I often
find the perfect title to be some key word or phrase that I have used in my essay.
