Architectural Thesis – Museum Design

Lecturer Instructions:Chapter II – 25 pagesliterature review•contextualize for your design problem supported by data if possible,•Historical and theoretical background for the problem and solutions offered•Technical issues related depending on your selected design problem,•Current pressing issues that would affect the scene, ex. Sustainability, health and wellbeing,critical climatic issues, productive architecture, COVID 19,•Case studies presentation and analysis. At least 2-3 relevant cases. If needed other thematiccases as discussed in class,This chapter should conclude with a statement (1-3) pages that synthesize all the info in the chapter. This furnishes ground for the next chapter of programming issues. My Instructions:Overview – For my thesis paper I decided to design a Museum. We were directed to find a problem in the community and provide architectural solutions. The Bahamas has multiple museums but they are tiny and there isnt a general interest because they are unknown and not updated, my plan is to design a state of the art museum whereas all current museums in The Bahamas can essentially become one. I want to appeal to tourists, the community and students While trying to create an inclusive environment and bring about museum awareness to this community. Design problems: •Lack of Awareness/ Interest in the Bahamian Community History. (This Muuseum should help boost theeconomy, provide jobs, become a large tourist destination and provide revenue)•A need for a multipurpose facility: The intent is for the Museum to be converted into a Town hall space, a place for events, national examinations and dining(there is a restaurant on the site). 1.For this paper, I need a literature review of case studies depicting multiple Museum. Theymust include:•a similar climate to the Bahamas•cultural aspects of the Bahamas2.Review all aspects of the Museum such as:•their program and size•number of visitors yearly and potential revenue•how they bring awareness to thecommunity and tourists

•how do they receive funding or sponsors•how do the Museum can be impactful3.Specify how the interior and exterior spaces are set up, as well as their adjacencies.4.Sustainable Material (appropriate for Bahamian Climate)5.Hurricane proof materials (façade, flooring, walls, paint, roof)
