1-page paper with references
Recently a home testing kit for HIV was approved by the Food and Drug Administration. In a one-page essay, discuss the benefits and risks of such a test. You should devote at least one paragraph to benefits and one to risks. Then, in one or two paragraphs discuss whether or not YOU think home testing for HIV is a good or bad idea as a public health intervention.
The rules:
One page of text not including references, single-spaced, 11- or 12-pt font, 1″ margins.
Three good references
Good references are from well respected news sources or professional organizations, or from peer-reviewed journals.
Be careful using websites or blogs, they are often based on opinions, not facts. They may be fine, just keep a scientific eye open.
Turn-it-in will be enabled. Words or ideas that you take from other people’s writing MUST be cited in the text and listed in the bibliography
Include the author, year, title, and source (or URL) and an “accessed on” date. As long as you provide all of the information, you may use the reference style that is most commonly used in your field of major (e.g. APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.). Examples of these styles can be found at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/2/
Clearly written, with good grammar and punctuation
