Also, business analyst job postings often ask for their candidates to have experience with a customer relationship management system (CRM), and often that CRM is Salesforce.
In this class, you will gain exposure to the Salesforce CRM platform and will have a chance to explore concepts in analytics using Salesforce Trailhead (Links to an external site.) and your very own instance of Salesforce.
This assignment is meant to get you acclimated with the basics of the Salesforce environment so that you can gain familiarity with this popular customer relationship management platform.
Note: Salesforce supports Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge. I do not recommend using browsers outside of those 4 as they can introduce issues. I recommend using Google Chrome as it has the most compatibility with Salesforce Lightning Experience (Links to an external site.).
Step 1: Visit Salesforce Trailhead (Links to an external site.) and click “Sign Up” to create an account on trailhead. I recommend using the “Sign up with Google” option where you sign in with your email.
Note: When signing up, feel free to put that you are a student at company “” (or anything that you’d like to say that you are) and select “Non-customer” on “Relationship to Salesforce”. The information that it asks for is just so that Salesforce has an understanding of who is using their platform. It will not impact your experience.
Step 2: Complete “Salesforce User Basics (Links to an external site.)” to gain some familiarity with the Salesforce environment, where you will learn about all that Salesforce can do, and the lingo that goes along with it.
Step 3: Complete “Reports & Dashboards for Lightning Experience (Links to an external site.)” to get exposure to the process of requesting and developing a report from two perspectives – the business and from the Salesforce Admin (the tech side).
