argumentative synthesis

Your fourth paper will require you to write an argumentative synthesis. To prepare for it, read “Chapter 5: Argumentative Synthesis” and the paper you will find by clicking on the “Deaths of Despair” link under the “4th Paper Materials” button in Blackboard. Your synthesis will need to be 6 to 8 pages long and include a Works Cited page. In this paper, you will need to decide what you think is the best way to address the high death rates associated with “despair” and propose a solution to the problem. You’ll need to research the topic in the databases. If you want to use information from the internet, you’ll need to have the websites approved beforehand. If you want to ask to use information from a website, send me an email to get permission. In the email, include an explanation for why you want to use the information, why you think the source is trustworthy, and why you aren’t using the information in the databases instead. Cite a minimum of 6 to 8 sources in your final paper. Follow this format: I. Introduction (introduce the broad topic and state an argumentative thesis) II. Definition III. Background (include history as well as current context) IV. Lines of Argument (support your thesis) V. Refutation (summarize your opponents’ views and state your reasons for disagreeing) VI. Conclusion.
