Nursing Informatics Presentation

Introduction:

• Prepare the introduction in an overview style that sets the stage for what is to come in the presentation (2 points).
• Include a brief state of the science of COVID-19 (2 points)

State of the Science:

• How are informatics currently being utilized in this area of nursing/medicine/healthcare? (2 points)
• How do other healthcare professionals, i.e. doctors, pharmacists utilize informatics as it relates to their role in the topic? (2 points)
• How are potential vulnerabilities identified and addressed? List two potential vulnerabilities (attack types) that may impact healthcare data as it relates to COVID-19 (2 points)

Policy/Legislative Impacts:

• What policies and/or legislation, i.e. HITECH Act, HIPAA, TIGER initiative, etc. effect or apply to this data and the role of informatics in transmitting this data? (2 points)
• Identify a minimum of 2 potential impacts the policy and/or legislation have/had on the use of informatics in this topic area.

Depth in discussing the impact/influence of selected policies/legislations (2 points

• Discuss how informatics is or could be utilized in delivering patient care for patients with COVID-19. This should be addressed for each of the 6 QSEN competencies (Quality Improvement, Safety, Informatics, Patient-Centered Care, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Evidence-Based Practice). Choose one bullet point from either the Knowledge, Skills, or Attitudes realms for each of the 6 competencies to help guide you in developing 1 or more suggestions regarding how informatics contributes to enhanced patient and/or healthcare safety.

Each competency is worth up to 2 points.

Artificial Intelligence (AI):

• Based on current practices, what role do you see artificial intelligence contributing to the topic of COVID-19 management? (2 points)
• What options/processes in artificial intelligence do you feel are not yet utilized that could be helpful in addressing COVID-19? Please address/surmise 2 perspectives- individual/patient perspective (2 points) and community or global perspective (2 points) options/processes)?

Presentation Professionalism:  In addition to choosing appropriate templates, students will be graded on:

• the use of bullet-pointed format on slides and appropriate placement of graphics/pictures to highlight key components of the presentation (2 points)
• Minimum of 2 APA-formatted references appropriate to the assignment, i.e. healthcare websites, journal articles, etc. should be utilized. (2 points)
• The presentation should have a title slide, conclusion/summary slide, and a slide with references cited as per APA 6^th format. Slide headings follow the criteria headings in the grading rubric.
