Description
The work should be in the style of a formal report, such as a consultant writing to the senior management team, and you must structure your work in a logical fashion by using appropriate headings. A list of references must be included to identify your information sources and, if appropriate, a bibliography. The work should embrace both theory and practice, and the use of relevant examples and graphs or diagrams is encouraged. It is important that you perform critical analysis and argue your case. Simple statement of fact is not enough! There should be evidence of additional research and knowledge for the top grades. ______________________________________________ You are the newly appointed Emergency Planning Manager for FrostAir (IATA: 4F), an airline with its HQ in Germany. The airline operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Primary scheduled routes are European and Middle East destinations. Some ad-hoc charter flights are also operated. The largest aircraft, A350-1000, has a capacity of 362 passengers across 3 classes. FrostAir currently has 3 of these aircraft and 2 more are ordered for delivery in January 2022. The airline is to commence scheduled operations to the USA, Caribbean and Canada in June 2022 using the A350. Destinations in the USA will be Orlando, Jacksonville and Atlanta. The airline has appointed a Country Manager to oversee all operations in North America (based in Atlanta). No other FrostAir staff will be employed in the USA; all ground operations will be conducted under contract with Page Aviation. The IATA Standard Ground Handling Contract between FrostAir and Page Aviation is currently under review. The flights to Orlando will be code-share with US airline, Big Bird Airways (IATA: BB). Flights to Atlanta will be code-share with French airline, GoHi! (IATA: 9G). FrostAir has made multiple submissions to the US Department of Transportation (DoT) for operating licences. The next submission to the US DoT should be the airline’s Family Assistance Plan in accordance with US § 41313 Foreign Air Carriers Family Support Act. Before the airline prepares it’s DoT submission, the FrostAir COO requires a full written brief on the capability and readiness of the airline to respond to an aircraft accident in the USA. The brief should include details of the airline’s obligations under the Foreign Air Carriers Support Act and the NTSB Federal Family Assistance Plan for Aviation Disasters. Importantly, the brief must provide details of ‘how’ the airline will meet these obligations. This section of the brief will contain information on resources, organisation and priorities. Particular attention should be given to the preparations for a Family Assistance Centre and the airline’s plan for communicating with survivors, families and employees.
