Overview

Research and present in a presentation format the history of navigational aid technology and identify some milestones that you believe were the most important. Pick a navigational aid technology you would like to learn more about and describe it using the below criteria as a reference. Then describe how you think this technology might evolve in the future.

For this assignment, you will create a slide presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a similar format.  Watch the videos under the Reading/Video(s) Assignment for Module 3. All submissions must be original and unique unless you are citing a direct quote. In-text citing and references in APA format are required for this assignment. See below for information on APA requirements.  Use credible internet sources to research navigational aids.

Complete this assignment by doing the following in your presentation:

1. Overview of the development of navigation aid technology for aviation.
2. Milestones in IFR and VFR navigation aid technology.
3. Select one of the following types of navigation aid technologies to present on:
   1. VOR (VORTAC (TACAN) VOR/DME)
   2. GNSS -GPS, WAAS, LASS/GBAS
   3. ILS
   4. Performance-Based Navigation – RNAV, RNP
4. Based on the navigational aid technology selected in step 3, answer the following in your presentation:
   1. Purpose – what is it used for
   2. Components
   3. The principle of operation – How does it work
   4. Advantages – provide at least three
   5. Limitations/Vulnerabilities – provide at least three
   6. How might this navigational aid evolve in the next ten to fifteen years
5. By Sunday, submit your slide presentation.

Guidelines for Presentation

1. Use Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a similar format
2. Minimum of six (6) slides of information covering items 1-4
3. Insert at least two 2 images, charts, diagrams, etc.
4. One (1) slide for References
5. Use two (2) credible internet sources to research navigational aids.

Grading

The slide presentation is worth 45 points. You will be graded on the guidelines listed above, the creativity of your slide presentation, organization, and information presented.

Note: The presentation should follow a logical sequence. It should not be too wordy, stick to the facts.
