Step 4: You’ve now had some time to adjust to your tracker and monitor your sedentary and non-sedentary times during the day. For the rest of the course, collect your daily step count, your active minutes, and how many times in a day you have had more than 250 steps in an hour. You will be using this information in your PFP assignment. You’ve probably heardthat 10,000 steps a day is best; surprisingly, there is no research to support this. There is research to support getting at least 8000 steps a day. The goal should be to break up your sitting time as much as possible and add as much daily physical activity as possible (e.g active commuting, walking more often than driving etc.). If your steps are below 8000 a day, make a plan to increase your steps by 10% per week. If your steps are above 8000 but below 10,000, plan to increase your steps by 5% per week.
