Assignment Background: This first assignment is designed to measure your understanding of the HRM challenges discussed in Chapter 1 along with your grasp of the changing nature of work and the role of HRM to bring employees together to work towards a common goal.

Using scholarly research and critical thinking, answer the following questions related to the changing nature of work and the role of HRM in the workplace:

1. What are some of the major generational differences in the workplace today? Do a search to for evidence for these beliefs and summarize three key differences between two of these groups in the workplace today.
Hint: research Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y/Millennials to uncover differences in their approach to work and summarize two groups and their opposing views about work.

2. Using the Human Resources Competency Model, describe in your own words which competency is needed by HR professionals to help overcome these differences and help these groups work well together.

3. What is one common element these two groups share when it comes to their views on work? Again provide scholarly evidence of this from your research.
