Here we are at the end of our arduous, but hopefully rewarding, semester. This current situation—with our class, with our community, and with the nation—has forced us to REDEFINE the world we live in. During this semester, we have discussed many texts and voiced many disparate opinions. For this final paper, I want you to display everything you’ve learned this semester. After reading Chimanmanda Ngozi Adichie’s We Should All Be Feminists (as a model only), compose a well-written, thoughtful essay that:

Asserts a proposal with some version of the phrase: We should all be____________________.
To be successful, you will need to accomplish a number of writing/argumentative tasks. First, you will need to define the word/concept that you are arguing for. We will cover a number of ways to accomplish this task. Then, you will need to compose a call to action, some section that inspires your reader to see the world differently, get involved, or pursue social change.

Guidelines: This paper should be typed, double-spaced, 5-6 pages, and MLA formatted. You must have a works cited page with your essay. All sources must be cited properly.

Techniques for Definition:

A dictionary definition (preferably the Oxford English Dictionary)—I don’t want you to use an inferior dictionary (Dictionary.com, etc.). However, a more specialized, less academic choice could be utilized (Devil’s Dictionary, Urban Dictionary, Dictionary of Symbols, etc.). I give you leeway for this method, but everyone MUST employ this method.
Origin Story (Everyone MUST do this).
Negation: What it is not
Stipulation—Presenting a definition in a different manner than is conventionally accepted (what it is, but not what is commonly understood/known)
