Papers should be 8 to 10, but no more than 12 pages double spaced. Each paper needs to follow standard essay guidelines- A good introduction paragraph, a position state or hypothesis by the second or third paragraph. Use the body paragraphs to develop and back your hypothesis or position statement (i.e., take a stance on the topic).

Use proper citations for any of the books or documentaries, or articles such as the 1619 Project that you cite in your paper. Use the citation style you are familiar with but stay consistent. If you chose MLA, or Chicago or APA, that is fine, but stick with one style for the entire paper. In addition to using the course material as references be sure to cite at least two outside sources of your own research on your chosen topic.
