DNPs are expected to the experts in evidence-based practice.  In this module, student will explore the foundations of evidence-based practice while exploring the differences between evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research.  Students will gain an understanding of agencies that support EBP work in the US and evaluate actions to promote EBP in healthcare.  The steps of evidence-based practice will be reviewed as groundwork for the student’s scholarly work in the DNP program.

1. Compare and contrast, research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement.
2. Demonstrate strategies and work of agencies that support EBP and QI.
3. Describe the steps of evidence-based practice.
4. Evaluate the actions to promote EBP in the clinical setting.

Professional Organizations contribute to the advancement of nursing practice through advocacy on a greater scale.  Organizations recommend standards of clinical practice, based on evidence, to drive practice and policy change.

In this post, students are expected to identify the professional organization they are a member of, and identify a clinical practice standard/guideline or regulatory standard recommended by this organization.  Please describe whether or not this practice is implemented in your place of employment, and any barriers to its implementation.
