The pacemaker cells of the sinoatrial node (SA node) and how they control the beating of the heart without voluntary nervous innervation.  In your essay, you must identify the AV node and describe how those cells work (about 1 page), then how the signals are sent from the SA node to the atrioventricular node (AV node) (about 1 page) and then identify how the signals are propagated to the ventricles (the name and location of the specific structures in the heart (about 1 page).  Then, I want you to talk about how a clinician would use EKG measurements to determine the efficacy of the heart and how a medical pacemaker will work (about 1-2 pages).  You should start your essay with a 1/2 page introduction and follow up with a half page summary write up.  Your work MUST be in your own words. If you copy and paste, I will NOT give you any points.

The essay must be 4.5-5 pages long, with 1 inch margins and double spaced.  The title page doesn’t count.  If you use any online resources you should inditate at the very end what you used (i.e. links to webpages or book citations.  That also doesn’t count to your word count.
