Description

Topics of the capstone project:
An original business plan will be the primary component of the Capstone Project. You will develop a business plan for a product, service, event, or an area for improvement for a certain for-profit or non-profit organization.
Capstone Project Topic – Pick one of the three below:
2. Campus electric scooter rentals
You have a discussion assignment (with your group) due in Canvas Jan 26!
The final outcome of this business plan should be in such good shape so that:
1) It can be presented to the top management team (TMT) and/or the board of directors of the relevant company for approval, or a group of potential investors for investment or donors for donation; and
2) The new product, service, or event proposed in this business plan could be actually implemented step by step.
Basic requirements for capstone experience:
Second, students are required to list every possible aspect of the project, and analyze each of these aspects, organize the process, make a manageable schedule and have meaningful forecasting of the project outcome. You should use the knowledge learned from the business core courses to deal with all the emerging issues in the capstone project and propose creative solutions.
Third, students are required to be creative/innovative in their project analysis; critical thinking and innovation are the keys to a successful team capstone project.
Business Plan Outline:
Students are required to use the outline provided below.
This capstone project includes three milestones, and the third milestone should include your final report with the three milestones combined.
Milestone 1 is for exploring the strategy for the project. For Milestone 1, students are required to use strategic theories and all other necessary principles learned in the business core courses to explore the strategic possibilities for the product, service, or event they develop.
Refer to your syllabus or assignments for the other two Milestones.
Milestone 1 – Exploring Strategy:
Name of the organization.

3.1. Reasons why this product, service, event, or area for improvement is necessary?
3.2. The value proposition for this product, service, event, or area for improvement (How does this product, service, event, or area for improvement add values to customers, and why?).
Situation Analysis
4.1. Use Porter’s Five-Force model to analyze the likelihood that the product, service, event, or area for improvement will be successful.
– Analyze the within-industry organizations that directly compete against you.
– Analyze the potential new entrants who may pose threat to you.
– Analyze your suppliers for your product, service, event, or area for improvement.
– Analyze your customers who may consume your product, service, or benefit from your event or area for improvement.
– Analyze the potential substitutes for your product, service, event, or area for improvement.

– External: Analyze the competitive advantage and disadvantage of your product, service, event or area for improvement. (Also see Point 4.1 above)
Formatting:
The format of your Capstone Project should be double-spaced, one-inch margin, size-12-font. Please use headings to separate each section and for easy reference. A business plan is not only for you to research and organize your thoughts and ideas but used to seek assistance. For example, a banker or investor may read through your plan. Make this plan organized and easy for the reader to follow.
Sources:
* Sources should be included on a reference page at the end of your business plan. The references should be the American Psychological Association (APA) style. The final paper should be in WORD or PDF file and submitted through CANVAS.
