Critical analysis essay on the veldt

Description

Compose a critical analysis essay on one of the topics below. Your essay should be well developed, unified, coherent, and grammatically correct. Refer to the Grading Criteria for MCC English Classes in the First Day Handout for this course. Required length: 1 ½- 2 pages
Create a thesis statement, and back up your claim with support/evidence from the text. Support should contain clear, specific examples from the story you are analyzing, as well as documentation for all text references. Include at least two to three quotations from the story in each body paragraph of your essay, for a total of 4 quotations from the story.
You may NOT use anything found on the web.
Example for quoting:
Franklin warns his readers about wasting and borrowing money: “think what you do when you run in debt; you give to another power over your liberty” (447).       – from Benjamin Franklin’s “The Way to Wealth”
Follow MLA format: Use size 12, Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins; double space.
Include a Work Cited page. It is not included in the 1 ½- 2-page length requirement; it should appear on a separate page at the end of your paper.
Topics:
Describe the theme of government control in Vonnegut’s “2BR02B,” focusing on how it prohibits citizens from controlling their own fates.
Choose one of the stories and write about the warning the author gives to society (us).
Discuss the theme Bradbury conveys through “The Veldt” about technology and the effects it has on the children and parents. What is the source of the children’s murderous hatred?
Show how Bradbury uses foreshadowing to warn the reader of the things to come and the effect this has in “The Veldt.”
Steps:
Before beginning your paper, read Writing About Literature and Using Sources and Comp II Punctuation Tips handouts; use them as a guide while working on your essay as well.
Use the outline form on the next page to plan your paper. You may write/type directly on the form or on a separate page. Submitting an adequate outline with your final draft will earn you 5 bonus points on the paper.
After completing a rough draft of your essay, use the “Proofreading Tips” and Reminders for Writing Essays handouts to make sure you have done everything correctly before submitting your essay to me for review. Use the same handouts again to check your final draft before submitting it for grading. (See Handouts page in Canvas.)
Message me in Canvas or come see me in my office with any specific questions you have during any stage of the writing process.
