EHO,PATHOS,AND LOGOS

This week is all about Ethos, Pathos, and Logos! For this discussion board, you’ll be reading “The People Who Prioritize a Friendship Over Romance” by Rhaina Cohen and then discussing the article’s approach to the three major rhetorical appeals. As always, I recommend watching the weekly lecture and completing the reading response before posting to the discussion board.

Instructions:

1) Watch “Week 5 Lecture,” found in the Lectures Module on Canvas.

2) Read “The People Who Prioritize a Friendship Over Romance” by Rhaina Cohen.

3) Write a paragraph that includes all the following elements:

• A topic sentence in response to the article
• Address Logos: Did the author support evidence with claims? How much evidence did the author have? What kind of evidence were they using?
• Address Ethos: How credible do you believe the speaker to be and why? How does the speaker establish their own credibility?
• Address Pathos: In what ways does the author try to establish an emotional connection with the reader? Do they use emotion appropriately?
• A concluding sentence that wraps up the paragraph

4) Comment on at least three of your peers’ posts! Did they have different evaluations of the article? Do you agree/disagree? Did they think of something that you had not?
