We have talked about the absence and misrepresentation of Indigenous people, histories and knowledge in the curriculum and in schooling in general. Using a power and privilege lens, explain the issues with limiting the teaching of Indigenous people, knowledge and histories to residential schools. In your response, discuss the problems with teaching about Indigenous people, histories and knowledge through a Eurocentric point of view. Draw on readings, lecture material, videos and examples to develop your answer and demonstrate your understanding of Eurocentrism, equity and racisms. You are required to draw on and engage with a minimum of two readings/videos (this does not include the video lectures).You are required to use a minimum of one example that contextualizes your response in schooling (e.g., curriculum, a student narrative, Board policy, widespread inequitable school practices, report data, etc).
