Describe 3 factors that can promote a healthy pregnancy.

Goal

Exercise is a factor that can help to promote a healthy pregnancy. Exercise helps everyone to stay healthy. During pregnancy, exercise should remain a daily routine. Some women, however, do not follow a regular exercise routine. As one of this week’s activities, you will develop an exercise class/program/routine for a woman who exercised regularly prior to pregnancy OR for those women who were more sedentary. You will also include safety considerations.

Guidelines

Develop a prenatal class/program/routine for a pregnant woman. Include the following components:

• discuss the importance of exercise during pregnancy
• which trimester will you focus on? 1st? 2nd? 3rd?
• what modality will you use to teach your class? Face-to-face? Online? an APP? an exercise group? etc. (you may pretend we are not sheltering-in-place or you may take that into consideration)
• Choose your target audience:
  • exercises/activities for a woman who already exercised on a regular basis prior to becoming pregnant
  • what teaching will you do? What exercises could you suggest?
  • include safety considerations

• • exercises/activities for a woman who led a sedentary lifestyle prior to becoming pregnant
  • what teaching will you do? What exercises could you suggest?
  • include safety considerations
