Instructions

A third option for watching a group discussion would be to watch a recording of a group which has already met. For example, a school board meeting. Please post a link (URL) of the meeting.

In the discussion board, number your answers one through five and answer the questions below. Also, post two meaningful (reflects material from the textbook) comments to classmates.

1. Give the name and date of the meeting you watched/attended. Provide the link.

2. Describe:

a) how the group is identifying themselves as a collection of individuals

b) what the common purpose is

c) how they are interdependent

d) how they have some degree of organization

e) reflect whether they have a group perspective vs. individual perspectives. (one or two paragraphs for a-e)

3. Based upon small group, what recommendations do you have to help the group be more effective toward reaching their goal? If you cannot identify recommendations (the group would have to be very effective for them to not have areas for improvement), clearly explain why you believe the group was on track according to information in chapter ten. (one or two paragraphs)

4. Based upon chapter six, give three examples of nonverbal messages interacting with verbal messages (about one or two paragraphs).

5. Based upon chapter six, describe three channels of nonverbal communication which you observed (three short paragraphs, one for each of the 3 channels).
