For this essay you will write about a relevant problem in our society and offer a solution.

Instructions

I divided the essay into different sections that will guide you in order to complete this assignment. Each section represents an aspect of the same problem-and-solution that you will need to address in the essay.

Questions To Consider:

One: Why are individuals Aware? Why do they Care?

Start your essay with responses to these questions: 1) How did you become aware of the problem? 2) Why do you care about it? 3) What actions, if any are you currently considering-or already taking- to solve the problem?

Two: Make them Aware. Make them Care.

1) What is the evidence that the problem exists? 2) What is the evidence that the problem is serious? 3) What do experts believe the consequences will be if the problem is not solved? 4) How does this problem affect individuals-either directly or indirectly?

Three: What are the causes of the Problem?

Cite credible sources/authorities on this subject: 1) What are the major causes that are directly and primarily responsible for creating the problem? 2) What are the minor causes that contribute to the problem? 3) Going beyond the physical causes, what are its psychological causes? That is, what are the mental decisions people made that contributed to causing the problem? 4) What attitudes or beliefs- if any- individuals need to change before they can stop contributing to the causes of the problem?

Four: What Actions Can Individuals Take to Help Solve the Problem?

After researching solutions proposed by other authors, write your solution to the problem by offering answers to these questions: 1)What are at least two alternative solutions that others have proposed for this problem? 2) What are the relative disadvantages of these alternative solutions? 3) What is the solution that you are proposing for this problem? What are the relative advantages of this solution? 5) What actions can individuals take to help implement the solution you are proposing?

Outside Sources:

For this essay you will need to include at least seven outside sources as evidence to support your claim in your essay. Scholarly sources (book, encyclopedia, or scholarly journal) are more credible. No more than one can be a documented (and legitimate) Internet source. Please list your sources on a Works Cited page.

Guidelines:

This essay should be seven to ten pages long. It should be written in a 12-point font, Times New Roman, and double-spaced, paginated, and one inch margins all around. All final essays must be submitted electronically to Canvas.
