Instructions

Summary :

You have been hired by ABC Financial, a fictional analytical firm. ABC financial is usually hired by firms who want to have more details regarding the market in which they are operating, their consumers and their competitors so they can make sound business decisions.

Your mandate is to produce a report in which you analyze the firm, one of its products and the market in which it is operating in order to provide feedback to your superior who would later give this information to the client.

Sources:

The project must be an empirical study (using data) of a firm operating in the Canadian market.

You must use at least 6 sources, one of which should be in French (though your paper will be in English). The sources can be periodicals, newspaper articles, and books (the articles (for both English and French sources) should be recent (as much as possible)).

Some examples for the sources are: The New York Times, National Post, The Economist, Globe and Mail, Wall Street Journal, OECD, Bank of Canada and Statistics Canada.

Some example for French sources are: La Presse, Radio-Canada, Les Affaires, Actualité and Le Devoir.

Be careful, you are not allowed to use editorials (since they are articles that state opinions)!

Format:

1500-2000 words

You must take into consideration that your employer does not have your economic expertise. Therefore, you are asked to define and explain all the terms and concepts that you use. Also, the presentation of the report must be impeccable and clear.

Definitions of simple terms (such as product, firm, industry, etc.) do not need to be defined.

More specifically, the report will include the following elements:
