CRJ 613 Introduction

Introduce yourself and include any pertinent personal and professional information you wish to share with your classmates and professor.

In addition to your personal and professional introduction, examine global criminal activity with a criminal case that took place in another country and answer the following questions relative to the case:

• Provide some details about the case that took place out of the country, including what the charge was and the outcome of the case.
• Do you think the charge or outcome would have been different if the case was handled in the United States? If so, in what ways would the case have been different?
• Based on just this sole case, does it appear that the United States’ criminal justice system is harsher or more lenient than the country in which the case took place?

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime report listed in the Recommended Resources contains a list of cases from other countries along with the charge and outcomes, which could be very helpful in completing this discussion.
