  8. Discuss the essential differences between Hamiltonians and Jeffersonians during the 1790s. [ch 7]
  9. The authors of the text argue that the French Revolution divided people in the U.S. and was important in leading to the establishment of political parties.  Explain their argument.  What do you think?  [ch 7]
  10. How did Thomas Jefferson envision the future?  Was he more successful in domestic or foreign policy as President? Explain. [ch 7]
  11. How did the War of 1812 transform American politics?  Consider such events as Federalist opposition to the war and the Hartford Convention.  What was the Federalist legacy or what had they left the nation?  [ch 7]
