Essay 3 covers ideas presented in chapter 2.9 and 2.10 of your textbook.

Choose three examples of artworks made in alternative media or with alternative processes: one from this chapter, one from elsewhere in the textbook, and one from your own research. For each artwork, identify whether it is a conceptual work, a performance piece, or an installation. Consider the role of the viewers in each of your artworks. How is their role affected by the medium? For example, are they active or passive? Some alternative artworks are now known only through photographs or video, whereas some can still be experienced in real life. How might the viewer’s role have changed from when the work was initially created? Would you have liked to participate in any of these artworks?

Make sure you actually look up and understand what an “Alternative Media” is – and please stick to “visual artwork.” For example, do not write about movies, plays, etc.

As far as formatting and length and such, I would like at least 400 words, or about a page. Ideally you have an introduction paragraph which contains a thesis statement, a body of example paragraphs which support your thesis, and a conclusion which summarizes your ideas and opinions.

If you look at the bottom of this page, you’ll see “View Grading Rubric” — that’s exactly how I am going to grade this. Do not forget about the ENGLISH LEARNING CENTER which will check for grammar
