1. Of all the theories of motivation presented in chapter three of the Vasu et al text, present and discuss the one theory you believe to be most useful in the administration of justice. Support your conclusion with anecdotal and/or empirical evidence.

2. Identify three of the most influential motivation theorists from section II of the Ott text. Discuss what makes your selected theorists the most influential and briefly present their work.

3.. Identify and discuss the various approaches to leadership discussed in the Vasu text. Present the leadership approach(es) that is most often utilized in the administration of justice. Lastly, present the leadership approach(es) that, in your learned opinion, should be utilized more in the criminal justice environment.

4. In 1926 Mary Parker Follett published an article entitled “The Giving of Orders.” Briefly present this article and discuss the significance of Follett’s contributions to the study of leadership.

10. Introduce and discuss Total Quality Management (TQM). Discuss those forces that inhibit and favor the spread of TQM in the criminal justice environment.

11. Discuss the nature of organizational change in the criminal justice environment. Identify how criminal justice organizations can learn and adapt to the fluid global environment of the 21st Century.

12. Discuss resistance to change (Coch & French, 1948) and Intervention Theory (Argyris, 1970). How can resistance to change be appropriately handled?

13. Present and discuss Peter Senge’s “Fifth Discipline” and examine its applications in the criminal justice environment.

14. Discuss the importance of ethics in the administration of justice. Take a position as to whether ethics training is over- or under-emphasized in the criminal justice environment. Support your position with anecdotal and empirical evidence (if available).

15. Define ethics and present the various approaches to ethical analysis.
