I do not think that this is a good idea. First, who’s to say what the right compensation is to the individuals you are taking the property from. In the long run you are taking a person’s home, their memories sometimes even their livelihood. I understand that sometimes you need to take the property for improvements. Kelo was the first major eminent domain case heard at the Supreme Court. In the case Kelo v New London, it was decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another private owner to further economic development. The question being Is everyone involved going to benefit from this takeover? The answer is no. One of the plaintiffs had lived there for more than 30 years, she was born and raised there.  The outcome was a sad one as the private developer was unable to obtain financing and abandoned the redevelopment project, leaving the land as an undeveloped empty lot. So, what did it accomplish other than a plaintiff out of a home she lived in her entire life.
