  Limitations & Implications

            There are some advantages to pursing an online BSN. Especially those who have gone through an online program, regardless of which program they took;

           A BSN holder is likely to make more money than other RNs. This can be reflected by the amount of time it takes to complete the program as compared to other RN related courses. BSN takes 4 years to complete (Stewart, Pope, & Hansen, 2020).

When one is a BSN holder, there are some opportunities that open up for them that weren’t available to them before the completion of this course. Having a bachelor’s degree is very essential for one to be admitted to most graduate nursing programs. The four highest paying nursing jobs are in the BSN bracket. This means they require one to have a BSN. It is important to put in mind that if someone needs to get out of the basic clinical care they need BSN (Breen & Jones, 2017). Most nurses do not wish to stay in the clinical care and would prefer to move into administration or teaching. This can only be possible if one holds a BSN or higher degree.

When one is undertaking a BSN curriculum, they are taught more than just clinical skills. As a BSN holder, one will have learnt a lot more including critical thinking, communication and leadership skills. These are essential skills that one will require if they plan to move into a higher paying job or taking up more responsibilities. The AACN recognizes BSN as the minimum requirement for a professional nursing practice (Shuster, Birkholz, & Petri, 2017).   

 Through research it is evident that BSN holders offer better patient care. The American association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) has collected extensive research that shows that higher education makes a major difference in clinical outcomes, this includes lower mortality rates as well as lower failure to rescue rates. Through this research it reveals that BSN holders make good diagnoses and have high proficiency (Seiler, 2018).

  Being a BSN holder are more legible for a lot more posted nursing jobs. According to a study done recently, 187, 000 nurse job posts over three months had the following educational requirements; bachelor’s degree had 37%. Through the study we also learn that BSN holder’s salary was 10, 000 dollars higher than the rest (Song, 2019)

 Having a BSN may be a requirement in the future. The institute of Medicine (IOM) published a recent study of nursing profession. It was recommended that BSN holders to be increased from fifty percent to eighty percent by the end of 2020. Nurses that have not had their BSN degree are being encouraged to do so within the first five years of earning a diploma or associates degree (Keavney, 2018).

            By attaining a BSN degree one gets connected to higher professional advancements.by having a BSN it will open ones career to fascinating specialties in pediatric, oncology, diabetes, surgery, psychiatry, gynecology and many more (Song, 2019).

                                                                          Conclusion

             It is important to appreciate the efforts that have been made to make sure that there is a way to use the online program to target a bigger group of nurses who aspire to pursue their BSN. His will be helpful especially in people in rural areas and places that they cannot access a traditional live instruction classes (Breen & Jones, 2017). The effectiveness of an online class will be determined by the personality, structure and study routines of a nurse. It might not be appropriate for everyone but at the same time it might work the same as for a person who was attending the class in person. It is important to note that there are some added advantages that are enjoyed by a BSN holder.

            There have been researches that prove that nurses that hold BSN degree are more competent in their work and as a result they are more preferred to work in a hospital or patients care center than all the other nurses. It is important to note that there has been a publication by the IOM that states that a nurse should at least hold a BSN degree by 2020.  It would be far to say that whether someone has gone through an online or a live instruction class, they are both equally trained to take care of patients as well as handling of nursing matters (Holley, 2017). This paper has discussed of the effectiveness of an online BSN program.ST
