Instructions: Recommended Report Outline
Cover Page with Title of Project, Author Name and Contact Info, and abstract.
Abstract (1/2 page max): Provide a brief, succinct statement of the purpose of your report, central issue, the methods of your data collection, and your key findings, conclusions, and recommendations. A good overview/abstract provides a clear synopsis of your recommendations and includes a very brief statement on methodology used to justify your conclusions. The overview condenses the entire report into a mini version for those who will not read the full report. Share an overarching question. Hint: Write this last.
Table of Contents is NOT Necessary, instead label your parts accordingly, i.e:
a. Brief Overview of Target Organization (1 page): What is the nature of the business or service provided by the organization? What is its history and mission? How is this organization being affected by climate change? Are Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) being integrated in this firm? Are SDGs listed or presented in any of its CSR/Sustainability reporting? Are the SDGS being prioritized based on local demographic needs? More specifically: does the firm/organization have a diversity and inclusion program in place? Is gender equity being addressed? What is the female manager count? Please be very specific here.
b. Diagnose the Organization (2 pages): describe the climate change issue being faced by the focal organization; what the current strategic responsiveness have been, and any reported faces of change (Spector, 2013). If a sustainability program already in place, you can, in addition, draw on Benn et al (2019) Phase Models and Phases to understand where the organization is, in terms of integration models and level of engagement in CS.
c. Apply theory to practice (2 pages): Based on your theoretical analysis, what course of action do you recommend that the organization take? Which strategic responsiveness (see Spector, 2013; from Building a vocabulary of change, to key theoretical approaches from any or a variety of chapters in the book) would you suggest this organization follow? What recommendations do you offer to raise its gender equality, ethics and inclusive programs?
d. Conclusion and Next Steps (1 page): What do you foresee as the next steps the organization will need to make to move this project forward in the short term? What about the long term? What will be the major challenges and opportunities moving forward? Which phase model of integration do you now recommend the organization take, and why? (Benn et al 2019). Specifically to the SDGs, which should be of concern to the firm/organization and why?
