MUED 140 San Jose State University Teachers Lesson Plan Discussion

Question Description

I have attached the template also the current event and the first draft of the Lesson plan I wrote below. *The big difference between this lesson plan and your first attempt is that this one MUST TIE-IN WITH YOUR CURRENT EVENT RESPONSE. Whatever you described as the effect on your future teaching in that assignment, I’ll want to see in this lesson plan.

Your lesson plan needs to include:

  • Starting Information:
    • Name, Date, Lesson “Title”, and what grade/level it is aimed at.
  • Context for Learning:
    • Who are you teaching and what is the students past experience and point in their rehearsal?
    • This is the appropriate space to tell me what kind of class/ensemble you are imagining too. For example, is it middle school, beginning choir? or high advanced string orchestra?
  • Standard(s) Addressed:
    • This is optional. If you can link your lesson to the National Standards, great, if not, you’ll have time to work on this in the future.
  • Learning Objectives:
    • We’ve spent a lot of time on these in class and on our Discussion Boards. Please include 2-3 concrete, minimal, measurable LOs that will be the focus of your lesson plan.
    • ***This is a good place to tie in your Current Event.
  • Assessment Plan:
    • This should be a simple and concrete way to measure if the students accomplished the Learning Objective(s) for your lesson.
    • This assignment is focusing on informal assessment.
  • Instructional Plan (THIS IS THE MEAT AND POTATOES OF YOUR LESSON PLAN – MOST OF YOUR WORK GOES IN THIS SECTION):
    • Teacher Behaviors – What is your plan? What will you do, share, and say during class? How long will you spend on each part of the lesson? What instructions will you give, what activities will you describe, and make sure to allot appropriate amounts of time for each part of the process.
    • ***NOTE: this is a great place to plan out some of your informal assessment? Maybe the teacher is “walking around and checking on students progress” during one of the activities…
    • ***NOTE: this is another good place in your lesson plan to tie in your Current Event.
    • Student Actions – What will the students be doing? Most student actions are in response to your instructions. Make sure that the student actions line up (visually) in the lesson plan with the instructions you’ve given.
