Thomson’s Violinist Objection to the “Common Argument”

In “A Defense of Abortion”, Judith Jarvis Thomson questions what she takes to be an argument that is “commonly” given against abortion (that argument is discussed in general on page 7 but is specifically summarized in lines 46-54). One way she does this is through her example of the violinist, which she uses to object against the “common” argument against abortion and show that it is flawed (her objection occurs mainly between line 55 on page 7 and line 22 on page 8).
