The paper will be formatted in compliance with APA format.  For many this will represent your first psychological paper on an issue of mental illness.  The AVC writing LAB is available to assist  anyone having difficulty with this format.  We will go over the basic format in class, however, herein are some basic guidelines. 3. APA mandates that the paper’s margin is set to one inch, that it is double-spaced, with Time New Roman font, 12 points.  APA format in part will include the following sections: a. A cover page (as per APA guidelines)b. Abstract (Instructor requires a succinct summary of paper not to exceed 250 words). c. The body of the report: This is a brief literature review of the disorder or syndrome you are researching.  i. How to write the report?
1. Read the articles, journals, and books.  2. Use current resources published within the
last six (6) years can be used.3. Determine what you want to tell your audience paraphrasing, summarizing, and analyzing the content in your own words.  Use quotations at a minimum. Its ok to activate your “critical thinking.  ii. The goal of psychology is to describe, explain, predict, and control the disorder. Therefore, your writing should include a discussion of the syndrome.1. Describe it: the syndrome being researched; present statistics of epidemiology, etc. 2. Explain it: the syndrome; How do the expert explain it theoretically.3. Predict symptomatology: Examine the syndrome’s symptoms 4. Control- treatment: or how it the syndrome
