Discussion Post – Psychology

1. Choose TWO topics from two different LOs (learning objectives) from each chapter. In chapter 1, there are two sets of learning objectives.
2. The first one is titled (in the shaded area on page 1) “LIFESPAN PERSPECTIVES” followed by FOUR “objectives” (perspectives and assumptions, differentiating periods of human development, issues underlying lifespan development, historical and contemporary theories impacting lifespan development)
3. The second one is “RESEARCH” followed by another set of four LOs.
4. Choose any two topics to focus your submissions.  So, for instance, you might choose to talk about “conceptions of age” from the first set of learning objectives, and “conducting ethical research” from the second set.
5. For each topic you choose to write about, you should summarize it and then talk about why you chose that topic (if it has any personal meaning or interest for you, etc.).  Then, do the same with chapters 2 + 3:, that is, summarize that topic and briefly state why you found it interesting.
6. You should be writing about a total of six topics for this prompt (two for each chapter). The three main learning objectives from chapter 2 are heredity, prenatal development, and birth.  For example, you could choose to write about “teratogens” (from the prenatal development LO) and “genotypes and phenotypes” (from the heredity LO).  Finally, choose two more topics from chapter 3 (the LOs for which are: physical, cognitive and psychosocial development in infancy and toddlerhood).
