You may be wondering, who is Percy Jackson? He is the protagonist of one of the most popular book series in the past fifteen years, which shares its name with him. But that is not the only way one could describe him. Percy is the son of Poseidon who grew up in new York with his mother, not knowing his father is the ancient geek god of the seas, he is the child of a prophecy that was given to his teacher five years prior to discovering the truth about his lineage, he is the savior of the world on multiple occasions, and above all else he Is still a teenage boy who has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Put them all together and you get the best hero the Greek gods had seen since Hercules, through the Percys story thus far, which is comprised of two series, each with five books, he discovers he is the child of the great prophecy which states A half-blood of the eldest gods shall reach sixteen against al odds and see the world in endless sleep the heros soul, cursed blade shall reap, a single choice shall end his days Olympus to preserve or raze Percy is essentially a child who was plucked out of his already not so normal life, and thrown into a world of monsters and gods, all of which he was destined to save. In the first book he is already as brave as can be when his mother was taken from him, and challenges the god of war, Ares, head on. There are many examples of his blind bravery throughout the books, but towards the end of the series he begins to realize he is not strong enough to take down kronos and makes the incredibly difficult decision to bathe in the river Styx, which had been done by only one other human, Achilles, and it had not ended well for Achilles. As the final battel nears the rest of the campers who had gotten to know him through the four years, he had been at camp begin to accept him as the true child of the prophecy, and as their leader in this war being waged against them by kronos. So, with the fate of Olympus in is hands Percy battles kronos head on with no hesitation and leads the troops of camp half-blood to victory. Through the series it is mad every clear that Percy is motivated to save Olympus time e and time again because of the looming threat on the world, though he is reluctant to accept his fate, he eventually decides to save the world. Another motivational factor for Percy is his friends he would go to any lengths to rescue his friends from an impending doom. Athena had even said You do not know when it is time to cut your losses. To save a friend, you would sacrifice the world. In a hero of the prophecy, that is very, very dangerous. She had also told Percy that his is his fatal flaw, meaning his biggest motivating factor could also be his demise.

Rick Riordan doesnt use Percys thoughts too much throughout the books, but occasionally highlights how Percy feels about certain things, like when he first arrived in camp Jupiter, he instantly knew the old lady had been a goddess sin disguise and knew that going through the river would get rid of the blessing of the river Styx that had made him unaffected by any external attacks. Riordan highlighted that Percy considered offending a potential goddess would be a bigger offense than losing his powers, so he carried her through the river and lost his powers. Later, in the series Percy explains to his friends his thought process during that time and noted that he decided to carry the goddess because he was sick of being on the receiving end of a Greek gods wrath, so he thought carrying her through would spare him of that, which it did.
Throught the books percys dialogue varies from sarcastic and humorous remarks with friends, to seriously inspiring speeches given to his comrades in times of need. While most of the time throuoght the books all we are privy to are ercys thoughts, every now an dthen we get a few line of dialogue wit hpercy and others.
