Please write a short paper in which you analyze an image using the method established by Jules Prown in his article "Mind in Matter." I strongly encourage you to consult the article as you are writing your paper. Make sure to identify your image, and include a link to it, or paste a copy into your paper.  You may select your own image, or you may use anything that appears in the "Image Library" on Canvas. If you would like help in finding an image, let me know.

Your paper should consist of three parts. In part one, titled "Description," you should describe all that you see in the image, making sure to include elements of "content analysis" and "formal analysis." Here your discussion may consist of words and phrases. 

Part two of your paper should be titled" Deduction" and should make sure to include elements of all three realms of deduction that Prown identifies: "sensory engagement," "emotional engagement," and "intellectual engagement." Here your discussion may take the form of relatively short sentences.

In part three, titled "Speculation," you should consider the image first in terms of what it is you believe is being depicted, and then in terms of at least one of the themes we have been discussing in class, using what you identify in the "description" and "deduction" sections to support your findings. Remember, there is no right or wrong in your speculation, just convincing or unconvincing (or maybe plausible or implausible). Your task, then, is simply to discuss what you think is possible, given what you see in and deduce about the image. This part of your discussion should be two paragraphs in length, one for each of your realms of speculation. An excellent paper will be at least 1,000 words in length.
