Post 1:

Myanmar’s military claims that Aung San Suu Kyi won the election in a fraudulent election. However, this is only a superficial reason for China’s support for Myanmar’s military power. The decisive reason the military was able to carry out the coup was that the Myanmar military had already seized control over the government, which could overthrow the unstable democratic system and trigger a coup. They are not interested in the welfare of the people of Myanmar. After the coup, Myanmarese protested against the military in various places, resulting in numerous casualties. Through multiple coups and military dictatorships, the mindset of the people of Myanmar has also changed. The entire nation is participating in the bloody and anti-humanitarian oppression of the military and indiscriminately slaughtering its own citizens. As a result, a vast, organized, and organized resistance movement developed.

Military repression has led to the deaths of innocent and vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women. The development of resistance movements regardless of generation, class, ethnicity, or religion was something that was not seen in the past resistance movements. This means that the entire people of Myanmar are eagerly waiting for real changes due to this incident. Younger generations, in particular, are appealing to the world’s attention, saying that they cannot accept the current situation. A country as diverse as Myanmar, where many aspire to democracy, must fight beyond military domination to succeed. The United Nations and major powers cannot directly intervene in Myanmar, which is currently in a semi-civil war situation. Under current circumstances where the United States, China, and Russia are all involved, the possibility of international intervention is highly likely. The military regime, which nullified the general election, was subject to strong trade sanctions from the United States and Europe. Despite the condemnation of the World Social Council, the human rights abuses of the people of Myanmar continue. If the Myanmar coup is prolonged, there is a possibility that the international community will focus more on supporting refugees than on the country’s democratization issue itself. Myanmar’s military and civilians may continue to clash and casualties will rise. Together with the UN, we will have to explore the possibility of support from various aspects with other countries. Cutting off the money chains of the leaders who control the military to put pressure on them would be one of them.

Myanmar is currently in the transition phase to democracy. If the military takes control of the country, it will become a socialist country. I believe that democracy can be realized if the citizens of Myanmar do not give up and resist the military that is trying to communize the country. To prevent this, countries that can assist should do everything within their power to assist if they ask for it.

Post 2:

I believe the military is wrong. I understand the importance of an election and preventing voter fraud, but I firmly believe there could have been a more peaceful resolution instead of causing panic and distress. Like the military, their job is to serve, maintain the peace, and protect. Instead of serving as the first line of defense against external threats, they are destabilizing their community, making an unlawful arrest, making rational decisions, and leading a "direct assault on the country’s transition to democracy and the rule of law," stated by president Biden.

From the information provided in the video, the military overthrew the government because they claimed to have detected electoral fraud that was not being appropriately adjudicated. I believe the democracy in Myanmar will be negatively affected and the outcome not ideal towards the original goals. Now they will have to worry about corruption and those they put in power, susceptibility to propaganda, manipulation or control of public opinion, and preventing insidious influence on people to achieve personal gain by the media. If the U.S. supports democracy, it will promote fundamental American values such as freedom of religion and worker rights and help promote a more stable, secure, and prosperous community. The military can assist with a military presence to smooth Myanmar’s transition to democracy and prevent any other incidents/ coups. Another way that I think would be great is the U.S. funding Myanmar to help strengthen their bases for gradual democracy and offer technical assistance and training to political. I firmly believe the United States should not get involved in Myanmar’s political and government positions. Although we are capable of helping improve the state of their current situation, I think we should focus on ourselves. I feel we need to solve issues before offering aid and judgment in others’ decisions when we have our flaws.
