To build a better future by taking action on climate change, this assignment requires groups
of 3 students to write a report about how they can contribute to the phenomenon by changing
their eating habits.
To do this assignment please follow the steps below:
• Make a group of 3 with your classmates. If you are not able to form your group your
instructor will assign group members.
• With your group members brainstorm about the relation between climate change and
food consumption. Watch the videos that are shown in the class to enhance your ideas
(Links are available at the presentation on the Moodle).
• Decide as a group what precautions you would like to take as a responsible global
citizen to reduce your carbon footprint regarding to food consumption. Precautions for
a- eating local,
b-eating seasonal, and
c-cutting food waste are expected to be explained in this work.
• Explain your precautions. Explain what goals and strategies you set to reduce carbon
footprint. Be precise. Give specific goals and strategies. Define how you will achieve
your goals. For example, how you will address seasonal food? Consider making a
chart of seasonal growing plants in Kuwait. How will you access those food? Think
about local farms, search what they provide. What are the obstacles before seasonal
food in Kuwait? How can you solve issues? And, how you will reduce food waste.
Consider storage conditions for food and explain how effective storage can help.
Consider recipes using what you have at home and how homemade cooking can help
reducing food waste.
• Write down your strategies and plan with reasons in your report. Report should not be
less than 500 words. Your report will include:
-an introduction where you mention the necessity of being considerate on food
consumption to reduce carbon footprint (such as why it is important to reduce
carbon pollution. What is food to do with this climate crisis?) You can use
credible internet sources to write this part. (20 pts)
