Select a social problem, a continuous issue which affects a large number of people who feel it is inappropriate and needs remedying

FINAL RESEARCH PAPER

For this course, you are required to submit an application paper based on the topic of your choice. You are encouraged to submit them early (just get it over with) in case of any unplanned life events which might prevent you from making it to class on the day of submission. Papers should be uploaded on Blackboard and hard copies must be brought to class on December 4, 2020. Upload your final paper by 10pm on December 4th, 2020. Please, remember to use docx (Microsoft word) or PDF format. If you submit your paper in another format and I cannot open/read it, it will be marked late, with penalty, until the proper format is sent. Any paper submitted after 10pm on Friday, December 4th, 2020 is considered late and will attract a penalty of 50% for every 24 hours. This means that a paper will receive NO credit if it is 2 days late. Before selecting your topic for this paper, you are required to meet with me during my office hours (not later than week 3) to discuss the choice of topics selected. Additionally, students should regularly meet with me to work on their papers. Students can also submit their drafts for constructive feedback before submitting their final papers.

In this course, as well as throughout your textbook, we will discuss sociological phenomenon using three of the big sociological perspectives: Conflict, Functionalist, and Symbolic Interaction. It is now your turn to apply conflict and functionalist perspectives to a social problem of your choice in this paper.
