Pick one of the following questions to answer.  Response must be 2 paragraphs. 1.  What is sin, as depicted in Book II? How does it come into the world, and how does this metaphorically depict how it comes into the world (no one really believes that there’s a weird lookin’ female named Sin, right?)?  2.  What errors does Satan make, at least in his recounting of how they got there and why they are there? PICK ONE and explain how Satan shows either corrupt will or corrupt reason.  Possible topics (a few) Says that they could not have known  that God was capable of squashing them.  Says that they are free Says that God made heaven to make people jealous3.   3.  Various people have complained, over the years, that Satan looks cool. To them, this means that Milton screwed up: evil is supposed to be manifestly disgusting, they appear to believe.  However, evil can also be attractive, and many of Satan’s traits, if they were not directed towards disobeying known commands or things he should have known already, might be OK.  Pick one or two of his statements and explain how they may be attractive to readers and but also how manifestly wrong, theologically, those statements are–or that they are not directly related to his relationship with God. Consider: is it possible for someone to be perfectly lovely insofar as his or her temporal end (like living a just life as defined by human reason) is concerned but still have willfully chosen against God and divine directives? What political import, if any, does this have?
