• For the titled-track trial in the force lab:
• Briefly introduce the set-up/equipment and the 3 phases (block stuck on track, block speeding up, and block slowing down.)
• Describe how the acceleration was determined from the velocity graph.   (You don’t need to show values, just describe the idea.)
• For each of the above phases, show two free-body diagrams (one for the hanging mass, and one for the block on the track).   If the objects are accelerating, your diagrams should be ‘unbalanced’.
• Describe these diagrams.  Describe why each force is there, its direction, and why the forces may be ‘unbalanced’ in a certain direction.
• Show how these diagrams were able to help us determine the tension and then the frictional force acting on the block.   For this, basically show the equation work (not the values) to find the T, fs, and fk.
• Describe how the acceleration can go from positive to negative, despite the kinetic friction force amount being (ideally) unchanged.
• Describe why the friction values should decrease if the ramp was inclined further.  Describe why the coefficient of friction values should not change if the ramp was inclined further.
• If you had a budget of 1 million dollars and a whole year to determine the coefficients of friction between aluminum and felt more accurately and precisely, describe your plan to do this.   (What equipment checks would you perform? What equipment would you buy?  What types of trials would you run? Etc.)  (In essence, what could be done to reduce the errors that we had in our lab experiment?)
