Description
Read “Write to Be Understood” which begins on page 121 in you Reading for Writer’s book. Remember to do your opening paragraph on what you thought. Did you like it? Why or why not? Then answer in paragraph form either the questions under “The Strategies” or “The Issues.”
First, you will read the assigned piece. Then, you will evaluate it. Each reading response should be no less than one page, typed. You should have a minimum of three paragraphs in your response. Your responses must be supported by EVIDENCE (properly embedded quotes) from the text.
In your first paragraph, please give your overall impression of the text. Did you like it? Why or why not? Be specific. I’d like you to engage DEEPLY and CRITICALLY with the text. If you thought the piece was great, what made it great? If you thought the piece was boring, what made it boring? I’d also like you to consider the author’s message. What does the author want us to know after reading his or her essay?
In your remaining paragraphs, please answer the questions provided.
