****Each student must apply the policy analysis model from page 51 of the text to the policy selected in assignment 1. The paper should focus on the current state of policy in this area and suggestions for change based on the analysis. Students should examine positives and negatives in terms of the effects of the policy and/or change on client systems. This discussion must include an assessment of effects related to social and economic justice, diversity, and social work values and ethics. The student must identify appropriate strategies for making any recommended changes and assess the resources that may be needed to make the changes. In this analysis, it is extremely important to support the policy analysis and conclusions with data from the research articles you collected in assignment 2. Visit Congress.gov for help locating policies by subject area. The student is expected to use the four headings from the model on page 51 in the text to write the analysis and cite references appropriately (minimum of 10, non-textbook sources) in the APA style. For example, heading 1 in your paper will be entitled “Historical Background of the Policy.” Under this section, provide the problems that led to the creation of the policy, how the problems were previously handled, etc. You will be heavily penalized for improper use of APA. The paper should be professionally written and approximately 8-10 pages in length, excluding references. YOU MAY USE ONLY ONE WEBSITE. All other references must be from journals. It will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

1. 1. Adherence to policy analysis framework from the text (Chapter 3)
2. Demonstration of working knowledge of the analysis model through documentation and application
3. Thoroughness and competence of your analysis and critical thinking skills

4. APA dedicates the use of headings in your paper. Please use the four headings from the model on page 51. Your paper will NOT be graded without these headings.
5. Demonstration of adequate knowledge of the chosen policy
6. Writing skills – organization, clarity, grammar, and APA style
