Background on the program: I’m applying to a master program in computer science that is designed for people without an undergraduate degree in C.S

A bit about me:

1) I studied hospitality & business management in school. Worked for 5 years in the hotel industry for large hotel like Hilton & Sheraton. Most recent position was as a reservation manager in Hilton downtown Seattle

2) I went through a tech bootcamp recently, and is currently working for a non-profit (since early 2021) to help people during Covid

3) Before joining the non-profit, i worked full time to build a fashion startup (I love fashion), and is still working on this part time after my co-founder left the project in the end of 2020.

I’m not really sure what the admission office is looking for in this essay. I think the best approach is to learn toward the direction of wanting to make more impact. I love helping people and enjoy my work in the hotel industry helping customers having a great time. However, my impact is limited compared to tech. After a few years living in Seattle and having a lot of tech friends – some working for crazy startups that are driving innovation and making a positive impact in all possible industries. I come to realize the power and impact that technology can have.

Ever since graduation from bootcamp, I’ve been pursuing work that is meaningful or exciting to me (my fashion startup), or making a positive impact on other people life (my work at the non-profit). That is what drives me to tech.
