R Final — Movie Critique

For this component of the course, you will complete a review, which will be researched and include a minimum of five sources. You will be required to use MLA or APA format, with in-text citations or endnotes and bibliography in correct format. Papers that fail to include research, fail to use MLA or APA format, or use incorrect format will not receive credit.

You will review a movie released in 2021. The movie should be a quality movie (no “slasher,” teen humor, etc.). The title should be cleared with the instructor if you have questions.

The essay must be a minimum of 1200 words in length and must be in proper essay format. Each must include a brief summary of the movie (75-100 words); an analysis with a research component (the bulk of the movie); and a reaction, as well as the standard introductory and concluding paragraph. The research component may include on-line sources but only one review per movie. The sources must be made available to the professor on request for her review.

For the “analysis with a research component,” choose an element of the movie to research.  You can look at sets or costuming, or the main theme or character.  You can check any history involved to see if it’s correct.  If you aren’t sure, think about what interests you most about the movie.  If you still aren’t sure, ask me.
