Think About: WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? – ISN’T THIS ALL JUST BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION? 

Whenever we participate in a discussion about the effects of cartoon violence on children, one of our reactions is to think that everyone is just being too sensitive and ridiculous. We think something along the lines of, “I grew up watching these same cartoons, or even more violent ones, and I’m not violent!”   That may be true but it misses the point and does not address the legitimate concern.

First Response Post: Whether or not you agree with the scientific evidence and the correlation between cartoon violence and aggressive behavior in children – the evidence exists. The issue is particularly alarming for children under 8 years old. Pick at least one example of aggression from the video clip and answer the following questions:

How could watching this be problematic for a child under 8 years old?  What may be the consequences? Do you have any first-hand experiences with this issue?
